SunEdison, Inc. is a renewable energy development company headquartered in Maryland Heights, Missouri, that designs, installs, and operates solar and wind power plants. Originally founded in 1959 as a silicon wafer manufacturer, the company transitioned to renewable energy by 2013. As of late 2015, it managed 3.4 gigawatts of generating capacity across multiple continents. The company maintains majority stakes in two yieldco subsidiaries, TerraForm Power, Inc. and TerraForm Global, Inc., and employs approximately 3,105 people globally.
