BCBGโs Chapter 11 estates reached the final-decree stage in February 2025, with the plan administrator reporting completed asset dispositions, wind-down and unsecured creditor distributions. The administratorโs February 10 motion for a final decree Dkt. 1295 sought closure of the two remaining cases; entry of that decree was the requested next step, with funds reserved for potential French employee liabilities.
BCBG Max Azria Global Holdings, LLCโs Chapter 11 proceeding reached the final-decree stage on February 10, 2025, when the plan administrator sought to close the remaining cases of Runway Liquidation Holdings, LLC and Runway Liquidation, LLC. In his supporting declaration Dkt. 1296, John Boken reported that all estate assets had been disposed of, operations had been wound down, post-effective-date obligations had been performed and unsecured creditor distributions had been completed. No proofs of claim remained pending.
The apparel retailer filed its Chapter 11 petition Dkt. 1 on February 28, 2017. The first-day declaration Dkt. 3 attributed its distress to the shift toward online retail, changing consumer demographics, expensive leases and underperforming wholesale operations; annual consolidated sales had fallen from $785 million in fiscal 2014 to approximately $615 million. A 2015 out-of-court restructuring and August 2016 rescue financing had not resolved those pressures. BCBG entered bankruptcy having initiated the closure of 120 stores, pursuing either a third-party asset sale or a debt-for-equity restructuring. The courtโs March 28, 2017 final financing order Dkt. 228 authorized DIP ABL and term-loan financing and use of cash collateral to support the process.
The amended joint plan was confirmed on July 26, 2017, as recounted in Bokenโs declaration, and achieved effectiveness on July 31, 2017, documented in the notice of confirmation and effectiveness Dkt. 601. Administration continued through asset disposition, claims resolution and creditor distributions. Boken reported that three affiliated cases had been closed by final decree on December 17, 2019.
The February 2025 final-decree motion Dkt. 1295 asserted that the remaining estates were fully administered and the plan substantially consummated. It also disclosed a French labor-court award of approximately โฌ2.7 million against co-defendants including BCBG Max Azria Group LLC, arising from redundancies at BCBG France. The ruling had not been reduced to a U.S. judgment, and the French employees had filed no proofs of claim in these cases; the administrator nevertheless reserved funds for potential payments if liability were established and requested closure despite that unresolved matter. The hearing notice Dkt. 1297 set March 20, 2025 for objections and March 27, 2025 for a hearing on the requested final decree.
